Seventh Grade Artwork
Album Artwork
Students designed album covers for their favorite musical groups, artists and rappers. The album covers were created using watercolor paints, watercolor colored pencils and sharpie.
Several watercolor techniques were utilized in this project including: wash, dry brush, spatter and blending with tints and shades.

Tattoos
These tattoo images were created using GIMP photo manipulation software (similar to Photoshop). This is FREE software that you can download HERE
The outlines of the tattoos were hand drawn and scanned into the computer. Students then used GIMP to add color and gradients to the tattoo designs and overlay the images over photographs of themselves.
No needles :)

Graffiti
Students used "the graffiti creator" on my website, HERE, to get inspiration for their graffiti images. Students then free-handed the graffiti lettering and added gradients and designs to their lettering.
Students added color with sharpie marker, acrylic paint, oil pastels, and colored pencils. Once the graffiti was finished the words were cut out with x-acto knives and posted on our "brick" wall for display.

Self Portraits Analogous / Complimentary Color scheme
Schoo eighth graders started by photograping their self portraits and drawing a 1" grid over the picture. After drawing a 2" grid on a blank sheet of paper, students sketch their portraits double the size of the photograph.
Once the contour lines (outlines) were drawn, students added value and color with oil pastels. Students used analogous and contrasting color combinations to add gradients to their portraits.
